There are many excellent, expert Tai Chi teachers.  We have many right here in Iowa, which is about as far away from China, where Tai Chi originated, as you can get.  There aren’t as many bloggers, or Tai Chi Centers or activities in our parks as in other parts of the country.  Our YMCAs do a great job providing opportunities to learn.  And, there are several teachers who offer classes in churches. Of course, YouTube offers thousands of snippets, full tutorials and lessons in Tai Chi/Qigong.   There are also DVDs offered for sale across the internet.  The banquet table of Tai Chi offerings is long and the selection is overwhelming.

I would always recommend finding a teacher and joining a class as first choice in learning Tai Chi/Qigong.  I have a teacher, Ruth Kneile, and take private lessons with her.  I also take group lessons at the YMCAs with Sherry Levine and Barb Brown.  Each teacher is highly qualified having studied with some of the finest teachers in the world.

I admit that I also like to explore and learn on my own.  And, in doing that, I found my new best (virtual) Tai Chi friends.  Stonegate Wellness in Austin, Texas posts videos to their YouTube site, Daily Chi Gong.  Jason Phillips, founder of Stonegate Wellness, and Tom Haile present regular, short videos demonstrating Qigong basics.  Here is their introduction Daily Chi Gong Introduction

I wish I lived in Austin so I could take their classes.  Next best thing is visiting them regularly on their site.   The guys are fun, energetic Qigong practitioners presenting basic techniques and principles simple enough for the beginner.  If you want to sample Daily Chi Gong, I recommend starting with the two-part series 3 Regulations of Qigong and then moving on to Five Animal Frolics starting with  Five Animal Frolics, Crane 1.

If you try out Daily Chi Gong, please like the site and tell Justin and Tom that their friend, Becky, sent you.*

*I have no affiliation financial, or other, with Stonegate Wellness.
