The Snow-Storm BY RALPH WALDO EMERSON Announced by all the trumpets of the sky, Arrives the snow, and, driving o'er the fields, Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven, And veils the farm-house at the garden's end. The sled and traveller stopped, the courier's feet Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed In a tumultuous privacy of storm.

The Snow-Storm
BY RALPH WALDO EMERSON
Announced by all the trumpets of the sky,
Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields,
Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air
Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven,
And veils the farm-house at the garden’s end.
The sled and traveller stopped, the courier’s feet
Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit
Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed
In a tumultuous privacy of storm.

Today, the World is conspiring to spin me off the edge.

We are in the midst of another winter storm.  I’m supposed to teach class tonight.  Do I cancel or do I drive downtown this evening? The automatic payment that was to change from an old checking account to a new account failed and I’ve spent an hour trying to make the payment.   I wasn’t expecting a visitor this morning, and my house bears witness to my embarrassment.  (All First World Problems, I know.)

What surprised me is how mild the perceived turbulence is, yet how riotous it feels in my brain.

There’s only one solution.  I’m going to grab a book, climb in to my recliner, and read the day away.  See you tomorrow, World.

I enjoyed this & I know the feeling. I’ve been trying to find some info for my CPA & it is driving me nuts. I like your idea of reading day away & I’m ready to try it! I started to go to find out results of my colonocoy this a.m. & someone couldn’t get stopped at a stop sign & I thought I was going to get hit so I just came back home & rescheduled my appt for Thurs a.m. hope it’s better then. Are you going to your class tonight? I haven’t been out since morning & I’m planning on staying here rest of day! Be careful if you decide to teach tonight.
