30 Days of Asking: Days 4 and 5 Coats and Garage-not so much

September 5, 2013 0 Comments

When I composed my 30 Days of Asking Calendar with tasks for each day, I must have been just a little too optimistic that Summer would end with the last day of August.  In the calendar, Day 4 (September 4) was for sorting winter coats.  Day 5 was for cleaning the garage.

If you don’t live in Iowa, you might not understand what an insane plan that was.  Yesterday was 95 degrees, today is 93 and rising.  If I had cleaned out the coat closet yesterday, there is better than a 50% chance that every, single, last coat would have gone to Good Will.  Being of sound mind and limited bank account, I cleaned out the spice and glass cupboards instead.

Don't judge unless you saw the cupboard before I cleaned and straightened.

I know, I know, if Penzey’s was publicly traded we all would buy stock based on my personal consumption.  But, looking at the bright side,, notice that spices take up 7/8 of the cupboard with only one small box of sugar, a tiny jar of cooking oil and paper plates.  I have my priorities in order, just like my Penzey’s  Spices.

Fast forward to Day 5, was-to-be-garage-cleaning day.  Yesterday afternoon, I broke a veneer on a front tooth.  I spent the entire morning today in a dentist’s chair getting installment one of a two-part repair job.  Maybe I’ll never have a million dollar smile, but I definitely have several thousand dollars worth of grimace to share with you.  I’m tired.  I will take up the garage or suitable alternate on Friday, Day 6.  For now, I’m off to the recliner to rest my weary head.  Namaste, Becky
